The following resources are the minimum recommended:
These system requirements are the minimum for satisfactory operation. For higher performance, be certain that there is physical memory to meet the requirements of the local system and all applications.
A large, complex profile may consume so much memory that it will not execute. Where business processes permit, redesign of the profile may resolve this issue.
Data Profiler 4.2 is a 32-bit application. Using a 64-bit operating system and more than 4 GB RAM is not recommended and does not help performance.
Best practice is to execute large, complex processes only on machines that have sufficient memory to load all components of the process while supporting the operating system and all other open applications.
Note Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 are not supported in this release. Technical support is not provided for these operating systems.
This section presents frequently asked questions you may encounter.
I tried to open Data Profiler and received the error message:
Unable to locate license file. The profiler engine may not operate properly until a valid license file is installed.
The default location for the License directory is:
\Program Files\Pervasive\Data Profiler 4.2
Note If you do not have a .slc license file, contact your sales representative to obtain one.
The Data Profiler application opens.
This section presents selected known issues for Data Profiler as of the release date. If you encounter an issue not found here, see Technical Support.
You are provided with an .msi installation file and an .slc license file. To obtain either of these files, contact your sales engineer or sales representative.
If you have version 4.0 installed, before you install version 4.2, follow the instructions in Exporting Version 4.0 Projects into a 4.2 Workspace. Then once you have exported the projects, you can install version 4.2. If you have already removed version 4.0, see Alternate Method for Importing Version 4.0 Projects.
You cannot have both Data Profiler versions 4.0 and 4.2 installed on the same computer. When you begin your installation of version 4.2, you are informed that version 4.0 will be removed. Only the application is removed, leaving all your project artifact files in their original locations. If you wish, back up the Workspace and License folders.
Status messages appear during the installation, which may take several minutes.

In Data Profiler 4.0, the workspace directory path was the following:
\Program Files\InstallDir\Data Profiler 4.2\workspace
But because of changes to accommodate Windows Vista users, the workspace directory path has changed to the following:
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CompanyName\Data Profiler 4.2\workspace
Note If you have already removed version 4.0, see Alternate Method for Importing Version 4.0 Projects.
To be able to see your 4.0 projects in the Project Navigator tree, do the following.
Click Browse to navigate to the .zip file you created in step 6. The .zip file was written to the default installation directory:
\Program Files\InstallDir\Data Profiler 4.2
The imported projects are written to the Project Navigator tree. If any project contains errors, those errors are displayed in the Problems pane. For instance, if a data set is missing a part value, the resource and path are listed under Errors.
If you have already have removed Data Profiler version 4.0, to avoid removing version 4.2 and reinstalling version 4.0, complete the following steps.
The imported projects are written to the Project Navigator tree. If any project contains errors, those errors are displayed in the Problems pane. For instance, if a data set is missing a part value, the resource and path are listed under Errors.
Technical Support Engineering may ask you to remove and reinstall Data Profiler. To do so in a Microsoft Windows environment, follow the steps in this section.
