David A. Boucher, Director

A Pervasive Software director since October 1995, David A. Boucher has served as a general partner of Applied Technology, a venture capital firm, since January 1993. From January 1981 to August 1992, Boucher served as president and chief executive officer of Interleaf, Inc., an electronic–publishing software developer.

David R. Bradford, Director

David R. Bradford has served as a Pervasive Software director since October 1995.  Since June 2006, Bradford has devoted his substantial energies to launching and advising a series of Web-based companies including ReadyCash.com, FundingUniverse.com, IslandOdyssey.com, and ldsbuslink.com. From April 2005 to June 2006, Bradford served as Partner for the law firm of Greenberg Traurig.   From July 2000 to April 2005, Bradford worked as a consultant to a number of private equity funds, as General Counsel to Dynix Corporation, a leading supplier of library software and services, and as General Counsel to Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman’s transition team. Serving as Senior Vice President, General Counsel of Novell, Inc. from 1985 to July 2000, Bradford helped lead the networking software company from a start-up to a multibillion-dollar corporation.

Bradford's leadership in the field of protecting Intellectual Property rights gave rise to his being elected chairman of the Business Software Alliance, the world's leading trade association for business software companies. In 2001, he was appointed Chair of the Advisory Board of Wasatch Ventures and in 2002 accepted a position on the Advisory Board for the University of Utah Venture Capital Fund. Bradford also serves as director for several private companies. He received a bachelor's degree in political science and a JD from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Shelby H. Carter, Jr., Chairman of the Board

Shelby H. Carter, Jr. is Chairman of the Board of Pervasive Software. Since January 1986, Carter has served as a distinguished adjunct professor at the University of Texas Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration. He founded several successful high technology companies, including SynOptics, which merged with Wellfleet to become Bay Networks before being bought by Northern Telecom, and VitalSigns Software, which was acquired by International Network Services in 1998. He also was formerly corporate vice president of worldwide operations for Xerox Corporation. Carter currently serves as chairman of the board of a private company and as a venture partner of Austin Ventures, focusing on the firm's Software & Services investment area. He received a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was recently named a distinguished alumnus.

John Farr, President and Chief Executive Officer

John Farr has an impressive individual track record in his career with Pervasive. A certified public accountant, John joined Pervasive in 1994 and served in various capacities, including his most recent five years as the company's Chief Financial Officer. Under his financial leadership, Pervasive has achieved consecutive quarters of profitability since 2001. John became the President and CEO for Pervasive in 2006.

He brings a tremendous amount of insight into Pervasive's business given his active involvement with the company since its inception in 1994. Prior to joining Pervasive, John spent 12 years in public accounting with KPMG LLP, an international accounting firm. John received his BS in business administration, summa cum laude, from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, in 1982.

Jeff Hawn, Director

 Jeffrey S. Hawn has served as a Pervasive director since 2003. Hawn currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Attachmate, a position he assumed in May 2005. He remains an Operating Partner of JMI Inc., a private equity firm based in San Diego, California, a role he assumed in April 2004. Hawn previously served as Senior Vice President of Operations for BMC Software, Inc. from January 2002 to March 2004, where he was responsible for overseeing the finance, corporate planning and development, information technology and business operations. Hawn earlier served as senior vice president, BMC Ventures through January 2002, where he was responsible for identifying, developing and managing BMC's emerging technologies and new business opportunities. From 1990 to 2000, Hawn was employed by McKinsey & Company, a global consulting firm, where he was a partner from 1995 to 2000.

Hawn also serves on the board of directors of Vignette Corporation, a content management software company (NSADAQ: VIGN). He received his Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.

Michael Hoskins, Chief Technology Officer and General Manager, Integration Products 

Mike Hoskins brings more than 20 years of experience in developing and managing software companies to his roles as chief technology officer and general manager of Pervasive’s Integration Products business unit. Mike joined Pervasive through its December 2003 acquisition of Data Junction Corporation, where Mike served as president for the prior 15 years.

As chief technology officer, Mike champions Pervasive's technology direction, evangelizes the company's industry-leading low-TCO approach to data management and integration worldwide and directs the company’s Innovation Labs.  In his role as General Manager, Mike is responsible for the growth, development and success of the Integration Products business unit and its leadership in providing agile, embeddable integration.

Mike has an extensive background in programming and systems development. In 1982 he formed SaudiSoft, a leading software company in the Middle East. Mike graduated summa cum laude in 1977 from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He is a widely respected forward thinker in the integration industry, has been published in a variety of publications, and speaks worldwide on innovations in data management and integration.  Topics which Mike has explored from an industry perspective include Software as a Service, ROI in the integration space, the last mile of integration and integration out of the box.

Nancy Woodward, Director

A Pervasive founder and director since 1994, Nancy Woodward has in-depth experience in entrepreneurial leadership and corporate executive management. She served as chairman of the Pervasive board from 1994 through June 2002 and now serves as vice chairman.

A former vice president and general manager for Novell, Inc., Woodward led Novell's Development Products Division, which developed and marketed the company's database products and software developer support programs. Working from Austin, Texas, she represented Novell to customers, the media, and industry and financial analysts. She also managed approximately 200 employees in product marketing, sales support, software engineering, developer support and administration.

Woodward joined Novell in 1987 following its acquisition of SoftCraft, Inc., a company she co-founded and managed as president and chief executive officer. SoftCraft created and marketed database programming tools for software developers, including the highly successful Btrieve database. At the time of acquisition, SoftCraft earned annual revenues exceeding $2 million.

In 1991, INC and Ernst & Young recognized Woodward as Austin's Entrepreneur of the Year. Woodward graduated with distinction in 1978 from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
